The Men’s Ministries at Holy Apostles Orthodox Church in Sandpoint, Idaho, is a dynamic fellowship dedicated to fostering spiritual growth, service, and camaraderie among men in our parish. Rooted in the Orthodox Christian faith, our ministries engage both cradle Orthodox and converts, encouraging all to deepen their commitment to Christ through worship, discussion, and outreach. Our activities provide opportunities for men to serve the church and community while building lasting bonds.
Our Ministries
Inkling Group
The Inkling Group meets monthly for fish and chips (and sometimes a pint of beer!) to explore timeless themes from the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, and other great Christian writers. Drawing inspiration from their stories, we discuss topics such as friendship, courage, and living out faith in today’s world. These gatherings combine hearty fellowship, thought-provoking conversation, and the warmth of shared meals, fostering a deeper understanding of how our faith applies to modern challenges.
Altar Service
Men in our parish serve as acolytes and sub-deacons, assisting Fr. Laurent Cleenewerck during Divine Liturgy, Vespers, Orthros, and other services. This sacred ministry involves tasks such as carrying candles, assisting with censing, and supporting the liturgical life of the church. Training is provided, and all men are welcome to participate in this vital role, which strengthens our worship and connection to the Orthodox tradition.
Building and Grounds
The Building and Grounds ministry focuses on maintaining and enhancing the physical space of Holy Apostles. From landscaping to minor repairs and improvements, this group ensures our church remains a welcoming and beautiful place for worship and community. Men contribute their skills and time to care for God’s house, fostering a sense of stewardship and teamwork.
Parish Outreach
Our outreach ministry extends Christ’s love to the wider Sandpoint community. Men lead and participate in initiatives such as charitable drives, community service projects, and support for local Orthodox missions. Whether organizing aid for those in need or sharing the Orthodox faith with seekers, this ministry embodies the apostolic call to serve others with compassion and humility.
